KyTyPS5 went from booting Demon's Souls Remake past character creation to near-30 FPS within days, with GTA 5 at 60 FPS and Astro Bot at 11 FPS also progressing.
The PS5 emulator KyTyPS5 has pushed Bluepoint's Demon's Souls Remake to a genuine 30 frames per second in at least one in-game area, according to new footage posted by YouTuber PSXTech. The milestone arrives with heavy caveats attached: the frame rate falls back to around 18 FPS the moment the camera starts moving, and noticeable frame pacing trouble sits on top of those drops. What the clip shows is progress, not yet a stable 30 FPS experience.
The trajectory is what stands out. Just two days before the 30 FPS clip, the game was crawling along at 10 to 18 FPS — itself an 800% jump over the 1 to 2 FPS it managed a day before that. A little over a week ago, KyTyPS5 only managed to boot the title past its character creation screen, and getting anywhere near 30 FPS had been expected to take until sometime in 2027.
Open questions remain. PSXTech did not share the hardware used to capture the footage, so there is no telling what kind of PC it takes to reach those numbers. Some people online are attributing the sudden gains to AI-assisted code, though nothing confirms that either way.
Demon's Souls Remake is not the only PS5 title making progress on the emulator. The same project recently got the PS5 version of GTA 5 running at up to 60 FPS, and Astro Bot has booted into gameplay as well, though at a rougher 11 FPS. None of these results amount to a playable experience yet, but the pace at which the emulator is catching up is hard to ignore. For a project that only cleared the game's character creation screen a little over a week ago, the performance curve is unusually steep.
