The officially licensed Formula 1 direct drive wheel debuts at Tokyo Game Show 2026, succeeding a ClubSport wheel used extensively by professional sim racers for training.
Sim racing hardware maker Fanatec has announced the ClubSport F1 Racing System, an officially licensed Formula 1 direct drive wheel designed to run with PlayStation 5 consoles, PlayStation 4 consoles, and PC. The bundle pairs an established wheel base from the company's catalog with a newly developed Formula 1 steering wheel, extending the Fanatec lineup dedicated to Formula 1-style racing simulation.
Before the product reaches its planned release, it will make its public debut at Tokyo Game Show 2026. Attendees at the event will be able to try the system hands-on ahead of launch, offering the sim racing community an early opportunity to evaluate the new Formula 1 package before it goes on sale.
The new system succeeds the ClubSport Racing Wheel F1, its predecessor in the Fanatec range. That earlier wheel was extensively used by professional sim racers for training, giving the successor package a serious pedigree within the competitive sim racing scene and setting a high bar for the hardware that will replace it.
Architecturally, the ClubSport F1 Racing System retains the ClubSport DD+ Wheel Base, the direct drive unit that anchors the setup, and introduces the exclusive ClubSport F1 V3 Steering Wheel as its control surface. The combination keeps a proven base in place while bringing a fresh, officially licensed Formula 1 rim to the front of the bundle. With compatibility spanning PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC, Fanatec is aiming the package at console and PC sim racers alike, with the Tokyo Game Show 2026 floor serving as the first stop on the road to the product's planned release.
