Capcom's record-breaking horror title has sold an estimated 8.5 million copies across PlayStation 5, PC and Xbox Series, with physical discs driving nearly a third of PS5 sales.
Capcom's Resident Evil Requiem continues to build on a launch that the publisher itself has described as record-breaking for the franchise. Having topped 6 million units sold within two weeks of its initial launch — a pace Capcom says broke sales records for the series — the title has now been sized up by third-party analysts. Alinea Analytics estimates the game has sold approximately 8.5 million copies across PlayStation 5, PC and Xbox Series consoles.
The platform breakdown from Alinea's estimates is notable for how concentrated it is. PlayStation 5 accounts for an estimated 48.1% of total sales, making Sony's console the single largest platform for the title. Steam, however, is not far behind at 43.4%, meaning Valve's storefront alone comes within roughly five percentage points of the PlayStation 5 share for this release. Xbox Series X|S trails at just 8.6% of sales.
Perhaps the most striking figure in the report concerns physical media. Alinea's estimates indicate that as much as 30.8% of PlayStation 5 sales of Requiem came from physical copies — evidence, per the report, that Resident Evil fans remain keen on physical editions. That is a substantial share for a major release at a time when digital storefronts dominate the overall sales split.
On the revenue side, Alinea Analytics reports that Resident Evil Requiem has surpassed $500 million in total revenue across its platforms combined. For Capcom, the estimates underline a commercial performance that, by the company's own account, has already set franchise records — and the gap between the confirmed 6 million launch-window figure and the current 8.5 million estimate suggests momentum carried well past the initial two-week sprint.
