Cornelis Networks Debuts Active Compute Fabric, Backed by $205M Round and Qualcomm Collaboration

Cornelis Networks launches its Active Compute Fabric for AI scale-up and scale-out networking, alongside a $205 million round led by IAG and a strategy collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies.

Cornelis Networks Inc., a data center infrastructure startup, has taken what it frames as a major step forward with the introduction of its Active Compute Fabric, a new network architecture built to support both scale-up and scale-out connectivity for artificial intelligence workloads. The debut was announced on Sept. 14 alongside a $205 million funding round led by IAG and a strategy collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies Inc.

The fabric's defining feature is its dual reach. Scale-up networking binds processors and accelerators together within a single system, while scale-out networking links many such systems into larger clusters. By supporting both dimensions under one architecture, Cornelis is positioning Active Compute Fabric as a unified foundation for AI deployments, sparing operators the task of stitching together separate solutions for each layer of the network.

The Qualcomm Technologies Inc. arrangement, unveiled at the same time as the fabric, is described as a strategy collaboration between the networking startup and the chipmaker.

Funding arrived in parallel: the $205 million round led by IAG was disclosed at the same time as the fabric. A raise of this magnitude underscores the capital intensity of the interconnect business, where competing for a role inside AI data centers demands sustained investment as clusters grow in scale and complexity.

For AI infrastructure buyers and investors, the move puts Cornelis squarely in the conversation on fabric design at a moment when networking choices increasingly shape cluster performance. The combination of a dual-mode architecture, fresh capital and Qualcomm alignment gives the startup a defined position; adoption among operators building large AI systems will determine how far it travels.
